An odd song, the most recent one by Jessie J. Here's the chorus.

You’re like a laserlight
Burning down, burning down on me
Burning down, burning down on me
You make me feel good, you make me feel safe
You make me feel like I can live another day
You make me feel good, you make me feel safe
You know I wouldn’t have it any other way

I supposed I've worked in and around labs too much, but it seems weird to describe someone positively in terms of laser burns. I can't imagine the same kind of thing being said of beta-burns or caustic injury. Lasers are things that you're tested as the cause of permanent damage by occupational health departments, which isn't something that sits well as an analogy for me with relationships (though maybe OH departments should take a greater interest!). If you replace laser with more radioactive analogy you get a kind of fascinating 1980s agitprop drama type song along the lines of Kate Bush's excellent Breathing.

In the blink of an eye
you were falling from the sky
In the flash, you took my breath away
And my heart starts beating
And my lungs start breathing
And the voice in my head starts screaming
I’m still alive

Chorus:
You’re like fallout
Burning down, burning down on me
Burning down, burning down on me
You make me feel something, you make me feel alive
You make me realise I have lived another day
You make me feel something, you make me feel alive
You know I wouldn’t have it any other way

You and me, an interface
And there’s so much I could say
And these words, have forever seen the silence
Can you hear fallout raining
And the world starts sha-sha-shaking
We stopped talking, talking, talking
And I'm walking, walking
To the light tonight, tonight

Chorus
